Worldeka, which means one world in Sanskrit, is a niche social-networking platform that brings together global citizens who aim to change the world. Launching in June 2009, Worldeka connects people with a common interest and allows them to harness their unique power to collectively bring about change. It strives to be an ultimate online resource with videoconferencing, educational syllabi, extensive nongovernmental organizations and charity presence, and unmatched information and opportunities in the environmental, developmental, and humanitarian fields—a one-stop shop for the globally engaged.
Landor was engaged to develop a brand positioning and in turn, an identity that would live across applications, including web, merchandise, and event collateral. It needed to be a beacon that people around the world could feel ownership of and rally around. Worldeka’s engaging, inclusive, and friendly nature needed to be expressed without appearing patronizing in any way. Visually, Worldeka needed to echo its promise to foster communication, engender collaboration, and inspire a sense of truly belonging to a global community.
Landor’s solution was to challenge existing norms to create a brand that would truly set itself apart. We developed a brand positioning based on the insight that collective power can change the world. By shortening Worldeka to WE as an identity, we were able to embrace the concept of the brand and represent its collaborative nature. There is no one Worldeka identity; Worldeka’s identity system encourages multiple design executions by the community that engages with it, from the logo itself to the wider visual language. The visual style of the brand is loud and uncompromising, helping deliver Worldeka’s message by mirroring its voice and the revolutionary spirit that is making itself heard across the world.
